Statutory Review of the DAT Act

The statutory review of the Data Availability and Transparency Act 2022 has commenced in accordance with Section 142 of the Act. The review is being led by Dr Stephen King supported by a Secretariat team within the Department of Finance. You can learn more about the review here. We welcome the review and the opportunity to ensure the Act can operate as intended to improve the availability and use of Australian government data for public benefit.

The National Data Commissioner has made a submission in response to the Issues Paper recommending the Act continue with amendments so the DATA Scheme can operate as intended and support a modern data-based society.
